The great thing about a pre-finished, engineered floor is that you can do it yourself. Follow a few simple rules like acclimating your floors before you install, give random widths some thought before you place them, and have at it.

The story starts with our wear layer. Choose from the romance of 100% reclaimed wood or the peace of mind of 100% FSC certified wood. Both are eco-friendly choices. Your choice depends on the amount of character your vision requires. 

Next, we adhere the wear layer to the substrate using an E-1 certified, formaldehyde-free, low VOC glue. The part we get really giddy about it is our substrate. It’s a 5-ply mix of Doug Fir and other species — not too thick, not too thin, and highly stable. The cool factor is huge when you learn it boasts the largest percentage of FSC material on the market — we guarantee at least 70%, but typically it’s closer to 80%.
